Project

Title Millipedes and Other Insects
Insects millipedes and other insects
Description The fifth grade students, at Laurelton-Pardee Intermediate School, have been studying a unit called Animal Studies. We have been studying frogs, crabs and millipedes to see how some animals live in the water, some on land and water, and some just on land. The millipedes have been the most difficult to observe. I will collect insect specimens from around the school to show the similarities and differences of insects when compared to the millipede. I have participated in two Bugscope sessions previously and thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I have also submitted a proposal to National Science Teachers Association to present a session in March 2009, in New Orleans, at their national convention. I would be introducing teachers to Bugscope and encouraging them to apply for a session. I don't know if it has been accepted yet.

Miscellaneous

Where did you hear
about Bugscope?
Science and Children Magazine is where I heard about Bugscope. I am a reviewer for submitted articles that are sent to them and I read the article that someone had sent in to see if they could get it published. Before I encouraged them to publish it, I went through the process to see if it was really as great as it sounded. I am happy to say that it was!
