First, thank you for this great opportunity. I just discovered this online and I know that my students will love it!!!!!!
We cycle for science so all students are taught the same curriculum by my grade partner and myself. I would love to have this operate as an assembly where the whole fourth grade can join. Has this been successful in the past?
We would use this enrichment opportunity in two ways: first, to introduce our Animal Studies unit and second, to gear up for the science state test in April. If accepted, I'll ask students to bring in samples of bugs and plants. We would also enjoy any samples you might already have that illustrate the different parts of an insect. In Animals Studies we look at African Dwarf Frogs, Millipedes, and Fiddler Crabs.
I would hate to dictate too much at this point. I'd love for the session to be curiosity driven. Our reviews for our state assessment are tough because they cover so many different basic elements of science. We spend some time on the scientific method, collecting data, physical properties, ecology. Any way we can cover these areas would be fantastic!!
