Bugscope Team these are the tiny sticky setae, or hairs, that help the fly stick to the ceiling

Bugscope Team this is the head of a click beetle, which has a hinge in the middle of its body that it can flex very quickly. it makes a surprising 'click' noise

Bugscope Team We just gave you control of the microscope. You can click on the left arrow and take a look at the presets. And if you click on one of the presets, the microscope will drive to that place.
Bugscope Team Except for the stink bug head, which is recalcitrant. It's not working. Still we could drive there if you'd like.
Bugscope Team this is the little pad of sticky hairs, called a pulvillus, that helps the fly walk on the ceiling, for example

Bugscope Team you can see its very round eyes, and you can see those crossed mandibles that it uses to bite things

Bugscope Team what's cool about pincer bugs is they usually have mites on their bodies

Bugscope Team insects usually die with their legs pointing in because as they dry out their tendons get tighter, which pulls their legs inward

Bugscope Team the click beetle has some defenses to it. You can see it can pull its head in a bit to protect it

Bugscope Team the insects are all lying on carbon tape, which is the bubbly/crater-like surface in the background

Bugscope Team they have mandibles as well as palps for tasting or moving around food
Bugscope Team here is the hole where the mexican jumping bean moth emerged
Bugscope Team the long fronds are the scales from the moth
