The Project

Project Title Iowa Grassland Insects
Insects To Study ants, bumble bees, Asian lady bugs, crickets, monarch butterflies, wasps
Project Description We would be participating in Bugscope as a science enrichment activity. The students have a basic understanding of entomology -- they know insect body parts and functions, and they can identify grassland insects of Iowa. These students were exposed to compound microscopes this year, and were excited to see cells and prepare some basic slides. They have seen a picture of an electron microscope in their textbooks and have looked at some images posted on a website. Seeing "real pictures" would be awesome! The building technology teacher would be showing the students your website and discussing the technology part of the project. The district technology assistant would be present during the session. I also anticipate that our building principal and our superintendent would be involved. Integration of technology into our curriculum and instruction is a district goal! Thanks for considering our application. Laura
