• Bugscope Team all these "hairs" are called setae (seta for singular), the hairs help the insect to sense it's environment

• Bugscope Team the setae stick through the exoskeleton of the insect, underneath they connect to muscles and nerve tissue, and that's how the insect feels...

• Bugscope Team some sessions the students login from different computers, and then ask hundreds of questions. other session, like your today, are just the teacher logged in. both ways have value. if you have multiple computers, you might consider letting studetnts login. it can get roudey sometimes, but the students become very engaged when they can ask questions through chat.

• Bugscope Team We should drive to the fruit fly and look around so that those images become part of the school's dataset.

• Bugscope Team You know Nala that is a problem with the microscope that we cannot fix -- it does not have super low mag capability.
• Bugscope Team this is as low as we are able to get
• Bugscope Team To compensate we put the sample as far from the beam as possible but we cannot go lower than like 37X.
• Guest okay. but what happens if I would like to come back with a schollclass and i cant control the microscope?
• Bugscope Team Nala you can control everything now but cannot go to super low mag, that's all.

• Guest You'll be able to. It just takes a bit of practice. If you choose small insects you can see the whole body.

• Bugscope Team Yeah as Nils says it is always helpful to have small insects/arthropods.
