| Project Description | I use the monarch butterfly as a tool to teach the scientific method, microscope use, ecosystems, and more. During this study, the students use compound scopes to observe the scales on the butterfly's wings and also check the scales on the abdomen for Ophryocystis elektroscirrha, a protozoan that can infect the monarch. I would love the students to see electron microscope images during this study. |
